Stefanie Wong (she/they) is a filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer who believes that we create the world through the stories we tell and so long as the storytelling paradigms do not change, neither does the world.
Wong is a first-generation American of Dominican and Chinese-Jamaican descent, born and raised in Miami, Florida, and an alumn of Florida International University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Business.
Former 2024 Fellow and current Executive Coordinator of Open Television (OTV), an Emmy nominated platform that champions global intersectional storytelling, Wong developed as a Screenwriter under Jess King, author of Inclusive Screenwriting for Film and Television. Budding director Wong trained under Dr. Rachel Raimist (Wu Tang Clan: An American Saga) through the Sundance Collaborative. As part of SeriesFest Executive Elevation Mentorship Program Wong is being mentored by Milan Chakraborty, Head of Film at Marginal Media. Additionally, through OTV, Wong is being mentored by Nikki Love, Senior Vice President of Production & Development at AMC’s ALL BLCK.
She is also the owner and operator of BIPOC FilmmakeHERS, a purpose-driven production company centering BIPOC, queer, and gender expansive filmmakers on and off screen. Wong crafts narratives that bring dignity and depth to the historically invisibilized communities to which she belongs.
Their current work includes 100% Switch (2025) a raw, unflinching exploration of the inner war of self-acceptance when the deepest parts of our humanity are on display and Catharsis (2024), a fantasy drama dismantling the superwoman schema and elevating mental health in black and brown communities.
Beyond production, Wong values contributing to the global filmmaking community as they played a pivotal role as a film screener at the 2024 Atlanta Film Festival and shared insights on a panel at the Black August Film Festival in California (2023) for a full-length social justice documentary, in which she was featured.
